Legacy Dinner Club

Legacy Dinner Club offers women an opportunity to establish relationships with other women who share the same season or station in life. The Dinner Club is a nine-month commitment; once a month for three hours.   The season goes from September through May.  Women meet for dinner, fellowship, instruction, and prayer.

Dinner Club is offered on the second Monday of each month at First Baptist Church of Orlando, 3000 S. John Young Parkway.
The focus of the Fifth Annual Legacy Dinner Club season will be "Turning a Busy Life into an Intimate Life."   The topics will focus on three key areas of a woman's life. The first meeting will be held on Monday, September 8, 2008, from 6:30-9:30pm.

Registration deadline is Monday, September 1, 2008.

Turning a Busy Life Into an Intimate Life

Richard Foster in his book, Celebration of Discipline, states, "Superficiality is the curse of our age.  The doctrine of instant satisfaction is a primary spiritual problem.  The desperate need today is not for a greater number of intelligent people, or gifted people, but for deep people."   This season in Dinner Club we will look deeply into what intimacy looks like in our relationship with God, family, and others.  Intimacy is defined as closeness.

  • How close are you to God?
  • Do you desire to spend time getting to know HIM more?
  • Do you seek ways to understand and develop a deeper relationship with your family as well as others?

This season you will look at truths that when understood and applied will cause a greater depth of understanding in your life.  In this season the passage from Colossians will be used as our Biblical guide.

This passage is rich with truth. The focus will be understanding intimacy at the deepest level.  At the end of the season, you will be challenged to look at your life and relationships through this passage.  What qualities of character have you developed as a result of your focused attention to your personal character?

Biblical Truth
Colossians 3:12-15
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Intimacy With God

September - Your God-given Name

You have been elected!!  God has chosen YOU.  What an exciting truth. This truth has the power, when understood, to change your entire life.  You were known before you were even born...WOW!

October - Personal Conversations with GOD

How do we let the Word of Christ richly dwell in us?  This session will address several key spiritual disciplines; prayer, mediation, and journaling.

November -  Sabbath Rest

How in the world do I unplug for 24 hours?   Intimacy can never be attained when we never take time to renew.  What does renewal look like?  Is it possible to recharge with so many demands on our lives?  Who controls the calendar?

Intimacy With Family

December -  Putting On

This session will look at developing qualities that will change your life; tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering, bearing with one another, and forgiveness.  Would your family say you are a woman who exhibits these biblical qualities?

January  - Etched Memories - Memory Making on Purpose

What will your family traditions and memories be when the children are grown?  Will they remember that mom and dad were always busy, or will they remember special times that were created on purpose?  "Etched memories" require intentional and purposeful planning in order to make a lasting impact.

February - Your Family Name

Generational truths are truths that you as a family commit to protecting and working on with your full attention over your lifetime.  Every family will battle to protect their family name and their legacy.  What truths will be important to understand not only in your family but in your children's family?

Intimacy With Others

March - Walking with the wise

Are your friendships life giving or life draining?  What does walking with the wise look like?

April - Personal Influence

What are you teaching others?  We each have the opportunity to share with others what GOD is teaching us. Do you find yourself saying, "Not me, but them?  I am not qualified."  God wants to use you in the life of another.  Don't wait to share your story.  God wants to use your NOW!  Be ready to share with others the hope that is in YOU!!

May - It's Time to Take a Look - Celebration

When you look back and examine your life over this season, will others be able to truly see the new you?  Will you be able to identify areas of intimacy that GOD has deeply developed in you?  Will you feel the enjoyment of an intimate life rather than a busy life?  This will be a month of great celebration!!
